Tong Siang evokes a sense of familiarity and camaraderie

Nothing beats mom’s cooking and for that, you will be mesmerised with Restoran Tong Siang’s wide range of cuisines.

Situated at Desa Aman Puri, Tong Siang has been around since 2002..

Their secret recipes have been handed down and honed through several generations.Gradually the owner’s mother Hau Yock Chiyau  passed on her traditional recipes to Tan Lay Peng, who now runs the restaurant.

Spoilt for choice

We finally had the pleasure of visiting this eatery after the dreadful pandemic that I am sure many would most definitely agree with.

With so many choices to choose from, it is easy to submerge oneself in the sea of their gastronomical delights, coming out with a fulfilled belly.

They were not in the slightest stingy, serving a myriad of dishes where we had the chance to taste their specialties two-fold.

Their signature dish is the Full Whole Leg Soy Sauce Chicken Rice, which looks like a plate of rice with a chicken drumstick cooked with soy, sauce, a herbal egg and some vegetables.

As the idiom goes, ‘The proof of the pudding is in the eating’; wait till you cut out a piece of the chicken drumstick and put it in your mouth. Not only does it have a pleasant fragrance, its skin appears shiny.

One munch was all it took to show years of hard work in making one such chicken dish pays off. Its texture was perfect and the egg melted in my mouth as if I were eating an extraordinary pudding.

Next came their Mee Jawa. The way they organise the dish was particularly interesting.

Their cucumber slices are like little islands with a green alien ball staying immobile on top all along the endless ocean of soup and right in the middle appears an active volcano that has just recently erupted.

After tasting the first spoonful of the dish, I slowly fell for the slight sourish of the lime combined with their prawn fritters which gives the taste of the Jawa soup.

Coming up next were their other bestsellers – the Asam Laksa, Herbal Noodle (Veg) and Green Curry Chicken Noodle.

These have been featured in my father’s review  written back in 2017. Asam laksa happens to be my father’s favourite.

It would have been better if they had added a little more salt for the sake of flavour.

However, Tong Siang’s motto is “to provide customers with the top quality, nutritious and tasty dish for all to enjoy!”

For that reason, it  means having less salt, sugar, oil, MSG and overall not having any hidden additives.

After a sumptuous meal, it is time to chill with their desserts. Two particular desserts caught our attention.

The Red Bean Yam and Cincau Aloe Vera Shaved Ice are unique in a sense that you cannot find them anywhere else except here alone.

We have had our fill of Tong Siang’s cuisine that our stomachs could no longer take anymore.

If you think that you crave for your mom’s cooking, and can no longer get it, make it a point to visit Tong Siang to savour their family cuisines.

Penang Lang Cuisines in PJ!

The restaurant Penang Lang Cuisines near The Strand Kota Damansara serves one of the best Authentic Penang Street Foods you can find in Petaling Jaya (PJ).

We enjoyed checking out their different varieties of dishes. That includes, their Penang Char Kuey Teow, Penang Prawn Mee and Penang White Curry Mee.

This restaurant's interior looks just like any other ordinary Chinese eateries you can find in a busy city.  Who would have known, such a café serves gastronomical delights in just minutes of ordering.

What’s unique about their Prawn Mee? They have the best prawn broth than many other restaurants out in PJ. Strongly recommend for those who like spicy and the taste of seafood.

Their Penang Curry Mee or white curry mee is definitely tasty. It has just the right amount of spice and a subtle taste of coconut milk, making it not alarmingly spicy.

The Penang Char Kuey Teow that we ate has fresh prawns as big as a grown man's thumb. It was delicious indeed.

I would most definitely recommend the prawn mee. Even though it’s not everyone’s cup of tea because it's a little spicy, I would still recommend it to them. I guarantee you will salivate after having your first slurp of the soup.

After all, food is the fuel for your life force, so enjoy it while you can!

Sri Nyonya

Saturday                                                                                                                                    30/4/2018

When I reached Restaurant Sri Nyonya, I saw it like a small abandoned restaurant. But the moment you enter, you can see it was quite crowded by about 7pm. If you found a table, that is lucky for you. A lot of people go to the restaurant but they can't find any seat for them to order their food. They have to pack the food home instead.

You should try their food because it is delicious! They do not use Ajinomoto and other artificial seasonings.

I hope to eat there again. Here are some pictures that I snapped, so that you can see how delicious food they have here!

I have also a picture of me and my sister with Uncle James who is 84 years old. My sister was shy to take pictures with him. Uncle James promised her  a durian ice cream if she agreed to take a picture with him. They are ice-cream buddies.

Friends, if you and your family want to visit Sri Nyonya, make sure that you book a table first before going there. They only accept guests who make a reservation.

This is the durian ice cream if you order the durian ice-cream you small it than you eat it.
This is the rum and raisin ice-cream. Is also nice and you know what every thing is the bast too !!!

(This restaurant has closed down due to the pandemic)

Hi guys, I was at Mikoshi restaurant this afternoon for a sumption lunch. They invited us for their launch party. It is a shabu shabu Japanese restaurant. They have a lots of vegetables and great Japanese cuisine especially, Yakiramen.

And they have a yoghurt mathine that produces great yoghurt ice cream. When I finished eating my food, I rushed to the yoghurt mathine to have my ice cream.

I hope you enjoy my pictures and plan a trip there.
